Can Land of Beds Collect My Return?
Which items qualify for collection and when charges may apply
Last Updated: January 2026
In some situations, Land of Beds can arrange to collect a returned item on your behalf instead of you arranging delivery yourself. This can be a convenient option for large or bulky items, but it is not available in every return scenario.
This article explains when return collection is available at Land of Beds, which items qualify, and what to expect if you choose this option.
When Can Land of Beds Collect a Return?
Return collection may be available when:
- You are returning a large or bulky item
- You are unable to arrange return delivery yourself
- The item qualifies for collection based on product type and location
Collection availability depends on the item being returned and your postcode.
Can I Return a Product If It Has Been Taken Out of the Packaging?
Some items can be opened and inspected, while others cannot be returned once protective packaging has been removed.
Bed frames can be opened and inspected and returned in their original boxes, provided they have not been assembled. Items that are made-to-order or customised cannot be returned unless they are faulty.
Items that come with a protective plastic covering, such as mattresses and bedding, cannot be returned if the plastic wrapping has been removed, due to health and hygiene reasons, unless the item is faulty.
If you wish to inspect a mattress, it should be placed on the bed base without removing the plastic covering.
Is Collection Available for All Returns?
No. Collection is not available for every return.
Whether collection can be arranged depends on:
- The type of product
- The size and weight of the item
- Your delivery postcode
- Whether the return is due to a fault or a change of mind
Some items may need to be returned by the customer instead.
What the Delivery Team Cannot Remove
When an Emma mattress is delivered, the delivery team is not able to remove an existing mattress at the same time.
Emma mattresses are supplied as rollable, boxed mattresses and are delivered as a one-person service using smaller vehicles. These vehicles do not have the space required to safely remove a standard mattress, which is a two-person task.
For this reason, mattress removal is not offered alongside Emma mattress deliveries.
This can also apply to other roll-up mattress deliveries and some bed frame manufacturers where delivery is carried out as a one-person service due to the product type or delivery vehicle. In these cases, removal services are not available at the time of delivery and would need to be arranged separately.
Collection for Faulty Items
If an item is faulty, Land of Beds may arrange a collection free of charge.
- Faulty item collections are handled separately from change-of-mind returns
- Images or further information may be required before collection is arranged
- Fault assessments are completed before confirming collection
Collection for Change-of-Mind Returns
If you are returning an item because you have changed your mind, collection may still be available, but a charge applies.
- Collection charges are deducted from your refund
- Charges reflect the cost of returning the item to the warehouse
- Costs vary depending on product type and postcode
Collection charges are explained in more detail in the related guide below.
What You Need to Do Before Collection
Before a collection can go ahead:
- The return must be agreed in advance
- The item must be ready for collection
- Any required disassembly must be completed
Items that are not prepared correctly may not be collected.
Common Questions About Return Collections
Can I request a collection instead of arranging my own return?
Possibly. Collection depends on the item and location.
Is collection always free?
No. Free collection usually applies only to faulty items.
What if I miss my collection appointment?
Missed collections may need to be rebooked and could result in additional charges.
When Things Can Vary
Collection availability can vary depending on:
- The product being returned
- Whether the item is faulty or unwanted
- Postcode and access restrictions
If you are unsure whether a collection is available for your return, it is best to check before making arrangements.
