Simba Mattress Care & Maintenance Guide

Looking After Your Simba Hybrid Mattress

Simba mattresses combine patented Aerocoil® springs with responsive foam layers to create a breathable hybrid sleep surface. Because they use advanced layered construction rather than traditional double-sided upholstery, care requirements are slightly different to standard spring mattresses.

At Land of Beds, we are proud to supply Simba hybrid mattresses and offer aftercare support to ensure long-term comfort and performance.

Unpacking & Expansion

Simba mattresses are delivered vacuum-packed and rolled for convenience.

When your mattress arrives:

  1. Take it to the room where it will be used.

  2. Carefully remove outer packaging (avoid cutting too deeply into the fabric).

  3. Place the mattress directly onto your base.

The mattress will begin expanding immediately.

  • You can sleep on it after a few hours.

  • Full expansion may take up to 24–72 hours.

A slight new mattress smell is normal and will dissipate in a well-ventilated room.

Do not attempt to re-roll the mattress once opened.

Do Simba Mattresses Need Turning?

Simba hybrid mattresses are no-turn.

  • Do not flip the mattress.

  • Rotate head-to-foot every 1–3 months to encourage even wear.

Because Simba mattresses use layered foam and spring technology, flipping is not required and may damage the structure.

Managing Initial Firmness & Break-In

During the first few weeks:

  • Foam layers will soften slightly.

  • Springs will settle under body weight.

  • The mattress may feel firmer than expected initially.

This is normal and part of the adjustment period.

Temperature can also affect feel:

  • Cooler rooms may make the mattress feel firmer.

  • Warmer environments allow foam layers to feel more responsive.

Cover Care & Cleaning

Most Simba mattresses feature a removable zipped cover.

For cleaning:

  • Remove the top cover section (where applicable).

  • Wash according to the care label, typically at 40°C.

  • Allow to dry fully before refitting.

Do not wash or saturate the internal mattress core.

For minor marks:

  • Spot clean using a mild soap and warm water solution.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals or soaking the mattress.

Using a breathable mattress protector is recommended to reduce staining and simplify cleaning.

Base Compatibility

For best performance, your Simba mattress should be placed on:

  • A solid platform base

  • A firm divan base

  • A slatted frame with gaps no greater than approximately 7cm

Slats that are too far apart may affect support and comfort.

Avoid placing the mattress directly on the floor for extended periods, as airflow beneath the mattress is important for moisture regulation.

Ventilation & Airflow

Simba mattresses are designed with airflow channels and breathable layers.

To maintain freshness:

  • Air the mattress regularly by pulling back bedding.

  • Ensure the room is ventilated.

  • Avoid using impermeable mattress covers.

Proper airflow helps reduce moisture build-up and prolong comfort.

Warranty & Guarantee

Simba mattresses typically carry a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship

To maintain warranty eligibility:

  • Follow all care instructions.

  • Use the mattress on a suitable base.

  • Keep the mattress clean and hygienic.

  • Retain proof of purchase.

If you believe your Simba mattress has developed a manufacturing fault, contact Land of Beds with full details and photographs, and our team will guide you through the claims process.

What Is Considered Normal?

The following are not manufacturing faults:

  • Slight initial odour after unpacking

  • Minor height variations after expansion

  • Light body impressions

  • Gradual softening during the first few months

These are normal characteristics of hybrid foam and spring construction.
