Sealy Mattress Care Guide | Rotation Instructions & 5–7 Year Guarantee

How to care for your Sealy mattress and divan, including rotation schedules, settlement guidance and manufacturer guarantee information.

Last Updated: February 2026

Sealy mattresses are proudly made in Britain and designed to deliver long-lasting comfort and support. Proper care helps maintain performance and ensures your manufacturer’s guarantee remains valid.

At Land of Beds, we are proud to supply genuine Sealy mattresses and divan sets, and we provide ongoing aftercare support should you need assistance.

Settlement – What’s Normal?

Some settlement is a normal occurrence with a new Sealy mattress. This indicates that the upholstery layers are conforming to your body’s individual contours.

Any settlement of less than 32mm is considered normal.

To help minimise uneven settlement, rotate or turn your mattress according to the schedule below.

Turning & Rotating Instructions

Single-Sided Mattresses (Most Sealy Models)

Most Sealy mattresses are single-sided.

  • Rotate top-to-toe at least twice a month during the first year of use.

  • Rotate once a month thereafter.

Double-Sided Mattresses

If your Sealy mattress is double-sided:

  • Turn and rotate at least twice a month during the first year.

  • Turn and rotate once a month thereafter.

Regular rotation distributes body weight evenly and prolongs mattress life.

New Mattress Smell

It is normal for a new mattress to have a slight odour when unpackaged. This will pass over time.

We recommend airing your mattress daily by pulling the bed covers back.

Protecting Your Sealy Mattress

We recommend using a breathable mattress cover to protect against body moisture and accidental spills.

Avoid:

  • Detergents

  • Chemical cleaners

  • Harsh stain removers

These may damage the fabric and stitching.

Electric Blankets & Heat Sources

If using an electric blanket, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety guidance.

Please note that extreme heat sources, including hot water bottles and electric blankets, may cause mattress discolouration over time.

Sealy cannot be liable for issues arising from electric blanket use.

Do Not Bend or Roll the Mattress

Do not bend or roll your Sealy mattress. Doing so may damage internal components and invalidate your guarantee.

Using the Correct Base

Your Sealy mattress should only be used on a base for which it was designed.

Using an old or unsuitable base may cause:

  • Reduced support

  • Sagging

  • Invalidated guarantee

If you are unsure whether your current base is suitable, our team at Land of Beds can advise.

Divan Drawer & Ottoman Weight Limits

If your Sealy bed base includes storage:

  • Mini drawers: maximum 7kg

  • Standard drawers: maximum 15kg

  • Ottoman bases: maximum 40kg evenly distributed

Overloading may cause distortion or damage and could invalidate your guarantee.

Sealy Manufacturer Guarantee

Sealy offer two guarantee levels:

Sealy Classics 5 Year Guarantee
Sealy Posturepedic 7 Year Guarantee

In the unlikely event of defects in materials or workmanship within the guarantee period:

  • Sealy will repair or replace the product at their discretion.

  • The guarantee continues from the original purchase date.

  • Claims must be made initially through the retailer from whom the product was purchased.

Sealy may refuse service if:

  • The defect is due to misuse or causes other than faulty materials/workmanship.

  • The item is soiled or unsanitary.

  • Terms and conditions have not been followed.

If you purchased your Sealy mattress from Land of Beds and believe there is a manufacturing issue, please contact our team with proof of purchase and we will guide you through the claims process.

Responsible Mattress Recycling

When replacing your Sealy mattress, responsible disposal is important.

At Land of Beds, we offer a mattress removal and recycling service alongside delivery. This ensures your old mattress is handled responsibly and helps reduce landfill waste.
