How Much Does Bed & Mattress Removal Cost, and When do Refunds Apply?
Learn how Removal & Recycling charges work and how much it costs.
Last Updated: January 2026
The Removal & Recycling service is a paid, optional service offered by Land of Beds. Understanding how the service is charged and how refunds are handled helps set clear expectations before booking.
This article explains how costs apply, when refunds may or may not be available, and what happens if removal cannot be completed.
How Is Removal & Recycling Service Charged?
Removal & Recycling is an optional service available for £45 per eligible item. The charge applies per bed or mattress collected and must be added to your order in advance.
This service allows you to have your old bed or mattress collected at the time of delivery, helping make disposal simple and ensuring eligible items are recycled responsibly.
Each Removal & Recycling service added to an order applies to one item. If more than one bed or mattress needs to be removed, multiple services must be added to cover each item.
The cost of the service is shown at checkout before you complete your order.
Are Removal & Recycling Charges Refundable?
Removal & Recycling charges are not automatically refundable.
Whether a refund applies depends on the stage of your order and whether the service has already been carried out.
Once removal and recycling have taken place, the service is not refundable.
If removal does not take place, how the charge is handled depends on the reason removal could not be completed.
What Happens to the Removal Fee If Collection Is Refused?
If Removal & Recycling cannot be completed on the day of delivery, whether a refund applies depends on why the collection was refused.
- If removal could not be completed because eligibility, preparation, access, or safety requirements were not met, the Removal & Recycling charge is not refundable.
- If removal could not be completed for reasons outside of your control, how the charge is handled will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by Customer Services.
Removal & Recycling charges are not automatically refunded if collection does not take place.
What Happens If Removal Can’t Be Completed?
If removal cannot be completed, delivery of your new bed or mattress can still go ahead.
The old item will not be collected as part of that delivery. Any questions about next steps or rebooking should be discussed with Customer Services after delivery.
Details about why removal may be refused are explained in the Failed or Refused Removal: What Happens Next article.
