Dunlopillo Mattress Care Guide | Turning, Cleaning & 8-Year Guarantee

How to care for your Dunlopillo mattress and bed base, including latex turning advice, cleaning guidance and warranty information.

Last Updated: February 2026

Dunlopillo mattresses are crafted using high-quality latex and premium comfort materials. Proper care and correct base support will help maintain comfort, promote even settlement and protect your 8-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

Upon Delivery

  • Remove all packaging carefully, avoiding sharp objects near the mattress fabric.

  • Allow the mattress to air for several hours before dressing the bed.

  • A slight natural odour may be present initially and will dissipate with ventilation.

Latex mattresses are heavy. We recommend two people when positioning or rotating your mattress.

Turning & Rotating Your Dunlopillo Mattress

Regular rotation helps promote even wear and comfort.

Turnable Mattresses

  • Turn and rotate weekly for the first 3 months.

  • Thereafter, turn and rotate every 3 months.

No-Turn Mattresses

  • Rotate head-to-foot weekly for the first 3 months.

  • Rotate every 3 months thereafter.

Important:
Do not bend or fold your mattress. Avoid lifting using handles alone, as they are designed for positioning rather than carrying.

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Brush lightly with a soft brush every few months to remove dust.

  • Do not vacuum the mattress surface.

  • Blot spills immediately using a dry, absorbent cloth.

  • Avoid chemical cleaners or detergents, as they may damage the fabric.

We recommend using a breathable mattress protector to protect against staining and moisture.

Allow Your Mattress to Breathe

Latex and natural comfort fillings benefit from regular airing.

  • Turn down bedding each morning to allow moisture to evaporate.

  • Avoid placing plastic or non-breathable materials between mattress and base.

Base Compatibility Rules

Using the correct base is essential for support and longevity.

  • If using a slatted base, slats should be no more than 7.5cm apart.

  • If slats are wider, use a supportive platform or additional base board.

  • A damaged or unsuitable base may cause premature wear and invalidate your guarantee.

Adjustable Slatted Base Guidance

Some Dunlopillo bed bases include adjustable slat systems

Care Instructions - Dunlopillo

These may include:

  • Slat holders – secure each slat into the frame.

  • Slat tension adjuster fittings – allow firmness adjustment.

  • Fabric centre belt – provides additional stability and weight distribution.

Move tension sliders closer together to increase firmness, or further apart to soften support. Ensure both sides are adjusted evenly.

Divan Base & Usage Guidance

  • Check castors, feet and fittings regularly to ensure they remain secure.

  • Avoid overloading storage drawers.

  • Do not stand or jump on the mattress.

  • Avoid prolonged sitting on the edge of the bed.

Body Impressions – What’s Normal?

Light body impressions are a natural result of comfort materials settling under weight. This is not a manufacturing fault and does not affect support.

Regular rotation will help minimise uneven settlement.
